About Us

Ever since that day in June 1875, when a group of concerned neighbors first met to discuss the urgency of establishing it, Farmers’ and Mechanics’ Mutual Insurance Association has kept the welfare of the people of Cecil County at the heart of everything we do. Henry H. Kimble opened his home for that first informal meeting and later meetings were held nearby in Zion at Carhart’s General Store. Today, as our company nears its sesquicentennial anniversary, our roots remain firmly planted in Cecil soil. We are still located in the village of Zion. Our office building, crafted of Port Deposit granite, sits on a portion of the lot which was once the site of Carhart’s Store, a location so integral to our formative years.

Although we had our beginnings in the 4 th district, today our Board of Directors represents every district. Every member of our board is, or has been, a resident of Cecil County. We are your neighbors, and we have been for nearly 150 years. We serve customers in Cecilton, Charlestown, Chesapeake City, Elkton, North East, Perryville, Port Deposit, Rising Sun and all corners of our county and across Maryland. We are local and we are here when you need us.

Whether you seek coverage for your Maryland home, farm, or rental property, our Association has a product to fit your unique situation. We provide personalized service and are dedicated to working with you to come up with the best solution for your insurance needs.
